Tavy
Mrs Parsons teaches our Year 2 and 3 class and is supported by Mrs Jones, Mrs Morton, Miss Spence, Mrs Archibald, Mrs Grubb and Mrs Perry.
Tavy Class is a hardworking and enthusiastic class with high expectations for both learning and behaviour. We strive to provide an active, happy and secure learning environment where every child is encouraged to try their very best and reach their full potential. We believe learning should be fun, engaging and inspiring, helping to develop curiosity and a love of discovery.
Our classroom is language-rich and well resourced, supporting children’s learning and encouraging independence. Pupils learn and work together in a nurturing, supportive environment where they are encouraged to approach each day with a positive mindset. Teamwork, determination and resilience are important values in Tavy, and we celebrate positive learning behaviours and achievements together. We enjoy sharing our ideas, discussing our learning and collaborating with one another, helping children to grow in confidence and take increasing responsibility for their own learning.
Each half term, we explore a new theme driven by either History or Geography. Through exciting hands-on experiences, investigation and enquiry, we immerse ourselves in our learning, creating, exploring, discovering and making meaningful connections across the curriculum.
Reading is at the heart of everything we do in Tavy Class. It is a key skill that underpins all areas of learning and helps children succeed both in school and beyond. Children have regular opportunities throughout the school day to choose, change and enjoy books, as well as discuss what they are reading. We ask that reading books and home-school diaries are brought into school every day. Regular reading at home is invaluable, and just ten minutes each day can make a significant difference to your child's progress and confidence.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting year in Tavy Class, filled with new experiences and wonderful learning opportunities. If there is anything you would like to discuss, please speak to a member of the Tavy team after school or contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
Thank you for your continued support. We are excited to be on this learning journey with you and your children.
